Darren Colecozy, 21, aka Capz, was named as one of Crimestoppers’ 10 most wanted on Merseyside.

A Liverpool rapper who attacked his ex-girlfriend and threatened to blow up her gran’s house was jailed.

Darren Colecozy, 21, aka Capz, was named as one of Crimestoppers’ 10 most wanted on Merseyside last month.

Colecozy, whose songs and videos about life in Toxteth have featured on UK urban music TV station Channel AKA, then handed himself into police.

He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today via video link from HMP Liverpool.

Anya Horwood, prosecuting, said he was slapped with a restraining order preventing him from contacting Hannah Lynch in July 2014.

She said the couple had argued in March 2014, when he demanded to look at her Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp accounts.

When she refused Colecozy, of Stevenson Street, Wavertree, became angry and snatched her phone, reports the Liverpool Echo .

Ms Horwood said he then pushed and shoved his victim, before throwing a cup of tea over her.

The defendant first breached the order in September last year, when he and Miss Lynch met in Liverpool city centre at around 3am.

Colecozy followed his ex-girlfriend out of a nightclub, grabbed and shouted at her and shoved her over bollards.

Ms Horwood said he breached the restraining order again on June 28 this year, after they met in the city centre at around 4.30am.

She said Colecozy made her go back to his Wavertree home, where he lives with his mum and her partner, in a taxi.

Miss Lynch said he took her mobile phone away and when they got to the house he dragged her upstairs.

She said he would not let her out of his bedroom and pushed her onto the bed.

Ms Horwood said: “He threatened to blow her grandmother’s house up.”

The court heard she was screaming and Colecozy’s mum and her partner came into the room and stopped the argument.

Ms Horwood said the Miss Lynch was left with reddening and scratches to her arm.

The Colecozy’s mum took her to her grandmother’s home and he then sent her mobile phone back in a taxi.

The victim told the court she was left “very anxious” and struggled to sleep as a result of the incident.

Miss Lynch said police had given her a Skyguard personal safety alarm, which she now carries with her when she goes out.

When arrested by police Colecozy denied any wrongdoing.

He claimed he had bumped into Miss Lynch on a night out and they decided to get a taxi home together, before starting to argue.

Today he pleaded guilty to common assault and breaching his restraining order.

Stephen Polson, defending, said his client accepted full responsibility for the attack.

He said he did not wish to postpone proceedings and knew a custodial sentence was inevitable.

Mr Polson added that Colecozy had been drinking at the time and was sorry for the offence.

Judge Robert Warnock handed Colecozy nine months behind bars.
